Description

Bible Commentary on the Old and New Testaments, translated, revised, edited and enlarged from the German editions of John Peter Lange and many contributers, by Philip Schaff. The original work was completed in 25 volumes, 14 volumes on the Old Testament, 1 volume on the Apocrypha, 10 volumes on the New Testament; an added volume as an Index to the Old Testament, makes 26 volumes in all. The volume 2 of the New Testament on Mark and Luke in a digital public domain copy was not found; the German edition volume on Luke is given in its place along with Schaff's volume on Matthew, Mark, and Luke, untill such a time that a digital pdf copy of volume 2 is found or supplied.mjm.2009.

This link, corrected HTML copies of the entire set. Right clik on the files to download each ch. Sorry for some reason footnotes will not copy. Although the commentary is ok, dated, the footnotes do not help the passage. Some clearly reading into the text and allegorical statements.

Subject: Lange's Commentary on the Holy Scriptures.26vols.
This 19th century Protestant Bible commentary on the entire Bible and the Apocrypha was and is a most useful and valuable work. It is conservative in theology and universal in hermeneutics. It deserves to be made available in print and digital forms. The 2nd volume of the New Testament on Mark and Luke is still needed to complete this set. mjm.2009. Update 04-08-10, I am scanning vol. 2 of the NT on Luke, will be ready by next month to upload and edit this set into double volume sets. mjm.
